Description

The below description is supplied in free-text by the user

The bold line is the trailing 7-day average of pull requests opened per UTC day in public repositories, so the weekday-weekend cycle (weekends run at about half the weekday level) drops out; the faint line behind it is the daily count. Hover for a day's count and its average. With most code now written with AI help, total output is the signal rather than any marker in the pull requests themselves.

Source: GitHub's search API, the total count for the query is:pr created:<day>, which GitHub returns exactly. Public repositories only, as they exist at the time of the query: pull requests in repositories since deleted (much of it spam) are gone, so older days can drift down a little; the job re-reads the last three days on every run. History is code_history.csv in the job repo.
